Painting the Fall Landscape in Pastel

Capture the rich colours and atmosphere of autumn through pastel! In this beginner-friendly workshop, accomplished Montreal artist Susanne Strater, member of the Lakeshore Artists Association, will guide you step by step in transforming a fall landscape photograph into a beautiful pastel painting.
You’ll learn the fundamentals of working with pastel, how to plan a landscape from a photograph, and how to approach composition, colour, light, and layering to create depth and atmosphere. With autumn as our inspiration, we’ll explore the warm, earthy hues and changing light that make this season such a wonderful subject to paint.
Participants are welcome to bring a favourite fall landscape photograph or work from images provided.
Beginner-friendly. No previous pastel experience required.

Vous apprendrez les techniques de base du pastel, comment planifier un paysage à partir d’une photographie et comment aborder la composition, la couleur, la lumière et la superposition afin de créer profondeur et atmosphère. Inspirés par l’automne, nous explorerons les tons chauds et terreux ainsi que la lumière changeante qui rendent cette saison si agréable à peindre.
Les participants peuvent apporter une photo préférée d’un paysage d’automne ou travailler à partir des images fournies.
