Hosted in an intimate, relaxed setting, this talk offers thoughtful guidance on how to update a historic home while preserving its original character. Through real examples, material samples, and open discussion, this session will help you better understand how to approach renovation with clarity and intention.
The evening will be led by Anika Schachtler, Founder and Principal Designer of Anika Schachtler Design, a studio specializing in the renovation and restoration of farmhouses and century homes throughout our region.
During this two-hour session, Anika will explore three key themes:
Storage: Reimagining Space
How to introduce thoughtful, functional storage into homes built long before modern closet systems existed.
Modern-Day Luxuries: Defining New Priorities
How to design around contemporary living, creating spaces that reflect how you want to live, gather, and unwind today.
Preserving While Updating: Honouring Character
How to balance heritage and modern function—what to preserve, what to introduce, and how to ensure cohesion throughout your home.
The seminar includes a presentation with project references, material and hardware samples, architectural drawings, and a guided Q&A. The evening will conclude with informal conversation and opportunity for questions.

Comment trouver l’équilibre entre patrimoine et modernité, quoi conserver, quoi transformer et comment assurer une cohérence globale.
La soirée comprend une présentation avec exemples de projets, échantillons de matériaux et de quincaillerie, plans architecturaux, ainsi qu’une période de questions et d’échanges.
